Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso

Located on the cliff overlooking the lake, the monastery is a complex of buildings recently restored and open to the public.

Legend says, it was founded as a hermitage by the blessed Alberto Besozzi who miraculously landed on these rocks by a storm. He retired there after a solemn vow to Saint Catherine patroness of mariners.

Inside the monastry are important frescoes painted from the 14th to the 17th century.

The Santa Caterina area is easily accessible across the lake by boats of the public transportation services of the Lake Maggiore.

From the Hotel it is possible to reach the Hermitage in less than 15 minutes by foot or 4 minutes by car.
